May Meeting – Planning Workshop & Recipe Swap

Wow! The year isn’t even half-way done, and do we have some news for you! In August the CWA Perth Belles will be hosting it’s annual major fundraiser. But we need our members help to form a social committee to help with the planning and running of the event. If you would like to be involved or have ideas to put forward, then come along to the May meeting where the fundraiser will be our main topic of conversation.

As an added bonus we will be doing a recipe swap – so please bring along your favourite winter warmer recipe (e.g. hearty soup/grandmas roast/mulled wine/pudding, etc).  These will be scanned, collated and distributed at a later stage.

 The May meeting will be held on 26th May 2011 in the cosy surrounds of 5 Bar (560 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley) at 6pm. Please RSVP by the 23 May to cwaperthbelles@gmail.com

 (Note the change of address for this meeting. We are not meeting at CWA House)

Annual General Meeting 30 March 2011

Hi Belles!!

Very sorry it has been so long between posts, but I actually forgot the password! I found it hidden beneath some cooking cutters and my cross-stictch, so we are back on track.

As it is now well into the New Year it is time to hold our Annual General Meeting! It’s an important meeting – and one in which we will be planning 2011 and electing the following positions:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
If you can’t make it for some reason let me know and we’ll see if we can find a work-around. :-) We will post the meeting agenda and more info on the roles up for grabs next week.

This meeting will be mostly for official business, but it’s still good fun and a great time to get out any ideas you want to put forward. Feel free to bring along some wine or nibbles to share.

Thanks to everyone who came down to The Garden a few weeks ago was fantastic to have so much support. Looking forward to more fun and games in 2011.

Address: CWA House, 1176 Hay Street, West Perth
Facebook invite: http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=117493244993701

Perth Belles Christmas Catch-up

Fa la la la la .. la la la la …

To celebrate the end-of-year and the festive season, we’d like to invite you to join us at The Garden in Leederville on Thursday 9 Dec for our final 2010 catch-up. We’ll be spreading good cheer from 6pm

If you’re feeling really festive – get involved in our crafty Kriss Kindle! All you need to do is buy some materials for a mini craft project (under $10) and wrap it up all purdy like. Then we’ll have a good old yuletide swap-fest. It’s totally optional (if you bring something you can swap it for something else) but was loads of fun last year so get involved if you can!

The Garden
742 Newcastle Street, Leederville
(Next to the Leederville Hotel)

Where to meet us…
We’ll be all gathering around the big tree (you can’t miss it) and will be the ones with a pile of Kris Kindles.

18 September · 14:30 – 16:30
City Farm, East Perth
Olá Belles, tudo bem?

Got stress? Ever wanted to learn an instrument – maybe even perform – but think it’s all too hard? Boo to that!

Bring your friends and come join us to learn some Brazilian samba drumming beats courtesy of Perth’s original samba percussion group, The Sambanistas!

Why?
* It’s simple and heaps of fun
* No experience necessary
* You can bash out all your worries and transform them into elation!
* You could participate in several upcoming parades including the annual Pride Parade (Oct), Northbridge Festival and Freo Festival (Nov)
* It’s family friendly
* It’s completely, 100% FREE. EVERY weekend.

Want to have a go with us Belles?

When: Saturday 18th September from 2.30 – 4.30pm (but you are free to leave whenever you need to)

Where: City Farm, East Perth (near Claisebrook train station)

What to bring: A smile, a willingness to learn and (if you have some handy) some earplugs. Trust me – it gets loud.

Rehearsals vary week to week but on this date our leader Rambo is going to take us through some Rio-style batucada rhythms!!

Please RSVP as soon as you can to ensure there are plenty of drums/snares/tamborims/bells etc for everyone.

Vamulá!

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

 Who are the Belles?
 The Belles branches of the CWA are groups for younger women who want to learn new skills and make a difference to their community.

What are meetings like?
The CWA Perth Belles meet once a month with the aim of having fun, getting creative and learning new things.  The plan is to pool our skills to arrange interesting workshops, activities and guest speakers.  We also run a few fundraisers during the year to support local community projects.

 Are there membership fees?

CWA members pay a yearly membership of $55 each. As this is our first year of operation, all fees will be held by our branch to use as we wish ie: donating to charities of our choice, funding events that we organise, subsidising other activities.  New members are always very welcome to come to a couple of meetings before joining to see what it’s all about!

 Please contact us about becoming a member at cwaperthbelles@gmail.com or join our facebook group.
